Long before there was Prohibition, there was Bootlegging. Even after Prohibition was repealed, Bootleggers continued to illegally make and distribute alcohol so they could bypass the high taxes. Without tax, bootleg liquor was sold much cheaper than legal alcohol. By 1930, hundreds of bars that were supposed to be closed actually stayed open after Prohibition became law. There were thousands of "blind pigs," (unmarked bars, saloons and speakeasys with blank front doors). But those in the know (which was pretty much everyone) knew about the secret SIDE DOOR.
Appropriately, Side Door Brewing Company opened their doors on Dec. 5, 2015 - the 82nd anniversary of the day Prohibition was repealed! As far as we know, they're not doing anything illegal LOL... but what might surprise you is the fact that all of their brewing is done on the premises. Can't get any more fresh brewed than that.
Brewmasters have the freedom to get creative and they're constantly coming up with new flavors like Key Lime Witbier, Blood Orange IPA, Whiskey Barrel Ale, Cascade IPA, Raspberry Sour Stout, Cafe Escalofrios (coffee flavored) Porter...and yes...even a Pumpkin Porter. See what's on tap now
If you can't make up your mind, a flight is the way to go. Fill out the Tasting Card and pick your fancy. In the meantime, you can play darts, enjoy live entertainment, play trivia and poker on certain nights. Need your Growler filled? Done.
