Description
Su-Shin Japanese-Thai took on a new glow when husband/wife team Attenan and Varaporn Suwunrut recently took over this peaceful Lauderhill restaurant. First, they expanded the menu, adding Thai specialties and more Japanese choices. An awesome, room-length fish tank is a mesmerizing focal point for the warm, brick-red walls and contemporary lighting, and a large, L-shaped sushi bar sits adjacent to the cozy main dining areas. The true beauty of Su-Shin is the food, like the wonderful Yum Egg Salad, brought to life by fresh lime dressing created when the Thai omelet is slipped into hot oil and cooked until crisp and lacy.
Delightful, spicy mayo-infused raw Tuna is trimmed with avocado and red tobiko (fish eggs) on crunchy fried lotus root chips. A star from the sushi bar is the flawless White Fish dusted with slightly salty dried miso crumbles and scallions, dressed with a mixture of olive oil and garlic. The separate Specialty Roll menu list is first rate, including an inside-out A-ri-ga-to Roll combining spicy Tuna with avocado, crab, tempura flakes and masago. Grilled Jumbo Shrimp features a glassy, caramel-colored basil sauce over deep-fried eggplant, and Chow Rice Noodles with Chicken, Beef, Shrimp or Pork in Spicy Keemow (stir-fried onions, Thai basil, green beans, scallions, carrot and zucchini in a peppery sauce) is so much fun to eat! And the must-try authentic dessert is Thai Sweet Sticky Rice stuffed with Banana, which tastes even better than it sounds!
