Karen Siegel believes that every restaurant begins with a dream. When she was a child, her mother would place various ingredients like flour, sugar, water (and whatever else she could find) on a small table for her children to create new “recipes”. Karen, along with her brother and sister, would mix to their heart's content. When they were finished, Mother would put the batter into the oven to bake, and Karen and her siblings would take a nap. While they dreamed of the cupcake creations rising to perfection in the oven, Mother snuck off to her favorite bakery.
Years down the road, Karen's culinary dreams came true when she opened Seagull's Diner. For fourteen years, from soups, salads, and sandwiches to burgers, omelettes, and egg creams, if it's on the menu at Seagull's Diner, it is freshly made by hand from scratch. They have homemade baked goods and fresh deli meats, cheeses, and salads. And they offer full banquet and off-site catering services as well, for parties of two to two hundred!
Karen's motto is “Life is uncertain...eat dessert first!” That's not a bad idea, considering the scrumptious offerings...brownie sundaes, cheesecake, pie, and cookies galore just to name a few! Yes, Karen's come a long way from that kitchen of her childhood, but one thing that never has and never will change, is that everything is made with the same love as those “nap-cakes” of long ago.
