Bazzura Cafe in Doral draws regulars throughout the day, but jumps with young people after midnight. "When I'm closing up the place at 5 a.m., they're coming in,'' owner Giovana Navarrete says. Bazzura features huge, made-to-order Burgers and Hot Dogs, scrumptious toppings and a distinctive Pineapple Sauce.
The cozy Columbian restaurant's wooden tables are colorfully decorated by customers while waiting for their Bandeja Paisa (a mouth-watering dish of Steak, Red Beans, Rice, Sweet Plantains, Egg, fried Pork and a Corn Pancake) and Pepitos (grilled Steak or Chicken on a French Baguette, layered with Lettuce, Tomato, Potato Sticks, Parmesan, Ketchup, Mustard, and Pink and Garlic Sauces). The popular Bazzura Especial Burger is loaded with American Cheese, Bacon, Ham, Veggies, Sour Cream, Tartar, and the beloved Pineapple and Avocado Sauce. Midday, Doral workers refuel with the hearty Lunch Special: Soup, Meat or Chicken, and a Salad at an incredibly low price.
During televised sporting events, fans gather, screaming at the TV while imbibing from a selection of Latin American cold Beers, or Mango, Pina Colada, and Tamarindo tropical juices. The decadent Fried Ice Cream, with FIVE chocolate-covered scoops, rounds out the meal. Navarrete often works 17-hour days to keep up with the hungry crowd: "I want this place to reach perfection. The customers are key.'' And the customers keep coming back!
