The famous upscale Bice Ristorante, founded in Milan, Italy in 1926, brings all the pleasures of refined Northern Italian cuisine to the casual-elegant Bice Bistro in Coconut Grove's lively Cocowalk. Call it Bice gone comfy, or Bice on a budget; either way, Bice Bistro is top-notch, friendly and affordable! Prices have been lowered, but not the high quality of the cuisine and service. This applies to the wine list, too, with a great by-the-glass selection.
Starters, which make wonderful tapas-style options for sharing, include the Trio of Seafod, a flavorful assortment of shrimp, calamari and more; and fresh Carpaccio , with tender sliced beef tenderloin, arugula and Parmasan shavings. The Bistro continues the Bice tradition of unsurpassed homemade pastas, like the mouth-watering Butternut Squash and Mascarpone Cheese Tortellilni and a memorable Meat Lasagna. The veal Milanese is a gloriously hefty fillet, pounded and breaded, then served with salad on top. The crispy veggies and the tangy balsamic vinegar add depth of flavor and texture to the subtle veal. And the Branzino tastes like the Mediterranean, with artichokes, black olives and fragrant white wine sauce. Excellence carries through to the dessert menu, which includes Cioccolatissimo, a sinful yet rustic brownie creation, layered with fudge.
