Description

Dominated by the centrally located robata grill, fish, poultry, meat and vegetables are prepared in open view of the diners at the surrounding counter and tables. Roka Akor keeps to the traditions of sourcing the best seasonal and local produce and seeks to supply the whole product in its purest, most natural form.

Roka Akor serves robatayaki, an open charcoal-grill cuisine cooked on the robata grill. Robata is japanese for “cooking with open flames” using bincho tan, a special charcoal from the seaside village of Wakayama. Many years ago, fisherman would grill their catch in this way, sharing the cooked delights by passing food on oars from boat to boat.

The restaurant name Roka Akor is derived from the japanese words RO and KA. RO means a place where everybody gathers to enjoy a meal with wine and sake in a sociable atmosphere. KA stands for a burning fire, heat and warmth, projecting energy and creating a welcoming buzz.

Daily Specials

Izakaya means "place of sake" or "gathering place”. In Japan, Izakaya are informal bars where people meet after work to snack on small plates and drink beer, sake and shochu. Holding true to tradition, Roka Akor’s Izakaya menu features an impressive selection of small plates as well as a large cocktail menu including affordable beers, wines, sake and shochu. Unlike a traditional happy hour, it is offered all night, every night, beginning at 5p.m. in the Shochu Lounge.
